Ardha Matsyendrasana (Half Lord of the Fishes Pose)

Procedure:

  1. Sit on the floor with your legs straight in front of you.

  2. Bend your right knee and place your right foot on the outside of your left knee.

  3. Keep your left leg straight.

  4. Place your left hand on the ground behind your back.

  5. Place your right hand on your right knee.

  6. Twist your torso to the right, looking over your right shoulder.

  7. Hold the pose for several breaths.

  8. Repeat on the other side.

Contraindications:

  1. Avoid this pose if you have a spinal injury or herniated disk.

  2. Avoid this pose if you have ulcers or other stomach problems.

  3. Pregnant women should avoid this pose or perform it under the guidance of a qualified yoga instructor.
