Auto Expo 2016: The Last Day

A five-day automobile extravaganza, which started on 5 February with 51 launches on the very first day, kept the auto enthusiast on their toes by dishing out surprises till the last day (9 February) of the event. From cutting edge technology to next generation transportation solutions, the 13th edition of Auto Expo touched upon a wide spectrum of automobile industry. From budget hatchback to security sedan, the visitors to this event witnessed a diverse range of automobiles.

The expo was marked by many firsts. While UM Motorcycles made its presence felt in the Indian market for the first time with the launch of its three cruisers, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) came up with the first two-wheeler crossover in India. It delivers the performance of a bike and provides the comfort of a scooter. The fabulous run of the event continued even on Day 4 and 5 with more than 1,09,000 footfalls recorded on Monday alone. From unveiling of concepts to introducing futuristic cars and witnessing stunt shows to trying out virtual reality simulators, the visitors were in for a treat.

Mercedes Benz

With the unveiling of Mercedes GLC 300, the carmaker launched yet another SUV for India. So, what does this car have in store for the users apart from plush interiors? Similar to Mercedes Benz S500, the Mercedes Benz GLC 300 has touch pad and dial command control in the middle. Electronically managed seats and Android/iOS app compatibility are other high-end features.

Volkswagen Polo GTI

German carmaker Volkswagen launched sports hatchback Polo GTI in Auto Expo 2016 on Monday. One of the USPs is the capability of the engine to deliver EU 6 emissions norms.

Fiat Linea 125s

The Italian carmaker launched the powerful version of Fiat Linea at the 2016 Auto Expo. Fiat Linea 125s, which has been scheduled to be launched in Q2 of 2016, will bring another tempting option to byers of mid-sized sedans.

Technical Specifications

Fiat Linea 125s will utilise the services of a 1.4-litre turbocharged T-Jet petrol unit that develops 123bhp along with 210Nm of maximum torque. The current Fiat Linea is also powered by the same engine albeit in a lower state of tune; it offers 112bhp and 207Nm of peak torque. One must note the Linea 125s will become the most powerful car in the mid-size sedan segment upon its launch in the country.

A8 L Security Sedan

Promoted as the “most secure Audi ever”, the launch of A8 L Security sedan is one of the high moments of the Auto Expo 2016. It is said to have met the most stringent criteria for civilian high-security sedans. The car, which has high aluminum content in the body, can handle a maximum payload of 600 kg.

Suzuki Gixxer SF FI

Suzuki came up with three new versions of the Suzuki Gixxer range of motorcycles – Suzuki Gixxer SF FI, Suzuki Gixxer SF rear disc brake and Suzuki Gixxer rear disc brake. They have turned quite a many heads in the entire event.

Yamaha MT-09

MT-09 roadster was a much-awaited launch at the Auto Expo 2016. It comes in two color options – Race Blue and Matt Grey. Imported in India, this roadster seems to have the potential to give its peers a tough competition.

UM Renegade Cruisers

Marking its presence in the Indian market, UM Motorcycles launched three cruisers – Renegade Commando, Renegade Sport S and Renegade Classic – at the Auto Expo 2016.

The Renegade Commando is equipped with spring rear suspension system and hydraulic telescopic front. On the other hand, Sport S and Classic editions have telescopic upfront and a dual shock rear suspension system.

Triumph Bonneville

Claiming to be 18% more powerful than the earlier model, Triumph launched the new Bonneville range at the Auto Expo 2016. Days ahead of the delivery in India, which commences in March, the people of Delhi got a glimpse of this classic motorcycle.

900cc twin-cylinder air and liquid-cooled engine
On the other hand, the Triumph Bonneville T120 derives its power from a 1,200cc air and liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that generates 54% more torque than the T100.
