Education in Kochi

The school belongs to Vidyaniketan Institutions and is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi for the board examinations. The public school now also offers education of higher secondary level.
Vidyaniketan of Kochi has undergone a large development. The school started with a total of 277 students but the current calculation has gone up to 2231. As the Model Engineering College at Kochi lies at close proximity from perhaps two of the most revered and cherished venues, the Industrial centers amongst which Aluva is also included and Cochin Export Processing Zone abbreviated as CEPZ, the students are procured with an added vantage to imbibe something useful from these technologically sound centers.
It has been Dr Prof Suresh Kumar P, who has been serving his tenure as the principal of the Model Engineering College of Kochi for quite some years now. TEQIP or Technical Education and Quality Improvement Program have been hand-picked by the Model Engineering College for providing economic assistance regarding the accomplishment of a project with the World Bank. The amount that has been granted till date has been estimated to be 4.3 crores with the total amount being 10 crores.
The Model Engineering College has also been dowered with an affiliation from the Cochin University of Science and Technology. Many students have chosen this particular college to obtain their B.Tech degrees as they are procured with a variety of subjects.
Center of Excellence in Laser and Optoelectronic Sciences
Being considered to be the sole organization that procures facilities to conduct R&D activities and training programs in the emerging field of Photonics, Center of Excellence in Laser and Optoelectronic Sciences abbreviated as CELOS is one of its kind in Kochi. The Center of Excellence in Laser and Optoelectronic Sciences came into its glorious existence in the month of July in the year 2002 as an entirely secluded and independent wing of the Cochin University of Science and Technology or CUSAT. It was in the month of March of the year 2002 that the UGC or University Grants Commission dowered this esteemed organization called CUSAT with the coveted title of being 'University with Excellence in Laser and Optoelectronic Sciences.
The volley of diversified activities that are being carried out by the Center of Excellence in Laser and Optoelectronic Sciences in Kochi are in collaboration with the International School of Photonics abbreviated as ISP and the department of Physics and Electronics of CELOS. It was not till recently that the UGC has granted a mammoth amount of approximately 35.45 million to the Center of Excellence in Laser and Optoelectronic Sciences of Kochi to upgrade their infrastructure and also commence maiden projects.
The major achievement of the Center of Excellence in Laser and Optoelectronic Sciences of Kochi was setting up a Spectra Physics make Ti:Sapphire pico/subpicosecond laser system endowed with an amplifier which serves to be a National Facility that deals with the dreaded natural calamity known as Tsunami. Other related fields where research work is being carried out by the Center of Excellence in Laser and Optoelectronic Sciences of Kochi are Fiber Optic Sensors, Microwave Photonics, Laser Produced Plasma, Optical Fiber Amplifier and Photonic Materials.
The Center of Excellence in Laser and Optoelectronic Sciences at Kochi also commenced an M.Sc course in Photonics.
National University of Advanced Legal Studies
National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) was set up by the Kerala Government by merging Bar Council of Kerala Trust and National Institute for Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS) which was formed and administered by the Bar Council of Kerala. The law institute was formed by the Kerala Government by virtue of Act 27 of 2005. National University of Advanced Legal Studies at Kochi has joined hands with university of Paris - X in Nanterre at France through a Memorandum of Understanding i.e., MOU whereby the two would share their students, faculty and the outcomes of the research undertaken with one another.

There are only 60 seats for the 5 year LLB program and out of these 5 seats are reserved for students from outside Kerala.
