Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi

The Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi is an institute offering higher level study in the domain of medical education. The institute also functions as a psychiatry unit for patients of all age groups.

The Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi is jointly administered by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Directorate General of Health Services. The Central Institute of Psychiatry in Ranchi accepts psychiatric patients from all over India and also from Bhutan and Nepal. The institute offers Post-Graduate medical courses. The Central Institute of Psychiatry of Ranchi teaches higher level medical courses in Clinical Psychology, Psychiatry, Psychiatric Nursing and Psychiatric Social Work. Successful candidates obtain a M.D qualification. Candidates may also pursue doctoral studies in Clinical Psychology.

The Central Institute of Psychiatry in Ranchi offers psychiatric facilities to its patients. Other minor services include drug deaddiction, treatment of epilepsy and family therapy among others. The institute is equipped with a functional Occupational Therapy Department that imparts economically viable training to its patients. Entrepreneurial skills like weaving, carpentry, cane work, tailoring and painting are imparted by the department of the institute. The Central Institute of Psychiatry has also opened a rural mental health clinic in order to help the mental patients living in rural areas.
