Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences

Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences is one of the premier medical colleges of the Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand as well as the country. Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences was upgraded from Rajendra Medical College in the year of 2002.The first batch of Rajendra Medical College was started in the year 1960.The institute is named after the first president of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad.

Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi sprawls over about 200 acres of land and is situated in Bariatu, about six km from the city of Ranchi. The college has various medical departments which are well equipped. The college offers degrees like:

• Diploma

The admission process to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences is stringent. Thousands of students undertake the entrance exams and a handful of them get selected to pursue the degree of MBBS in RIMS, Ranchi. The seats of the post graduate courses are also very limited, which are offered only to the best students.

The first principal of the college was Dr N.L. Mitra. He was also a professor and Head of the Dept. of Anatomy. Dr. K.P.
