INS Kurusura Submarine, Visakhapatnam

INS Kurusura Submarine, Visakhapatnam, is a museum that was established at the beach of Rama Krishna. INS Kurusura is actually a submarine that was constructed by the Russians. It was built in the year 1969. It reached the city of Vizag in the year 1970 via the Baltic Sea. The hauling of the submarine was a strenuous job that was undertaken by NSRDC or Naval Ship Design and Research Center. From then on, this submarine was in use by the Indian naval army. It gradually was developed into a war monument.

The total length of the INS Kurusura submarine is 91.3 meters. Its breadth is 8.00 meters. The submarine later on was transformed into a war museum. INS Kurusura Submarine museum opens for public viewing from 9 in the morning and closes at 9 in the night. The Chief minister Sri N Chnadrababu Naidu inaugurated this museum.

The tourism department of Visakhapatnam looks after the maintenance of the INS Kurusura Submarine, Visakhapatnam. A huge amount of money has been invested over this museum project. The total investment upon this project was Rs. 5.5 Crores. It is one of the central tourist attractions of the city.
