DAVV Indore, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya

DAVV Indore was established under the regulations undertaken by an Act of the Legislative Assembly of Madhya Pradesh in 1964. In 1964, it was called the University of Indore and its jurisdiction was extended upto the district of Lahore. Later, the university was renamed as Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya in 1988.

Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya Indore is one of the celebrated universities of the city. It has about 153 affiliated colleges under its jurisdiction, which are known to impart a wide range of subjects. Some of the schools and colleges falling under the university are School of Advanced Liberal Studies (SALS), School of Chemical Sciences (CHEMICAL), School of Computer Science (SCS), School of Education (EDU), School of Energy & Environmental Studies (SEES), Institute of Engineering & Technology (IET), Information Technology Centre (ITC), Centre for e-Business (CeB) and University Minority Cell (UMC).

In fact, the university is known to offer a wide variety of courses, including conventional, professional, computer and self supporting courses. During its inception, the university was known for its conventional school of studies. Between 1964-1984, it offered degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics. In 1968 and 1969, the B Ed and MBA courses were introduced in the university. Presently, the university offers degree in Economics, Journalism, Life Sciences and Biochemistry.
