Government Holkar Science College, Indore was established in the year 1891 by Maharaja Shivaji Rao Holkar, the erstwhile ruler of the region. The birth place of many scholars and learned men, the Government Holkar Science College, Indore was established with the intention of creating a strong educational base for the central provinces. In the year 1885, the Government Holkar Science College, Indore was awarded the title of a Model College by the sate Government of Madhya Pradesh and in the year 1988 the college earned the status of an autonomous college.
