Summer is the best time to visit Patnitop because it is a scenic hill station. During April to June, the climate remains mild and inviting. This time is considered best for families for travel. In fact, this is the best time for trekkers too.

The monsoon season is not too harsh. However, the chances of landslides increase during this point of the year, which may cause your schedule to go haywire. If you prepare your itinerary by keeping this aspect in mind, you will surely enjoy your stay at Patnitop during the monsoon.

Try to avoid winter because the minimum temperature reaches -14°C, which is generally not considered good for family travelers. However, during this part of the year snowfall is a common phenomenon. Visiting Patnitop will be incomplete if you don't savor the local delicacies. Some of the dishes that you can't afford to miss are Rogan Josh, Wazwan, and Kashmiri Pulao. You will simply love to have Patissa, traditional sweet of Kud, located near Patnitop. Other than local food, you can find all kinds of cuisines in Patnitop such as South Indian, North Indian, Non-Vegetarian, Chinese, and Vegetarian dishes.

  • Skiing is a major thing here in Patnitop, popular with the adventurists. During winter, ski lovers flock this place. Those people who have no experience with skiing can also visit to train themselves. You can join a skiing course here, when they are conducted during the months of January and February.
  • Trekking through the picturesque beauty of Patnitop is simply amazing. That's why more and more people are joining trekking expeditions to have a look and feel of nature more closely.

  1. When you visit Patnitop, you should try to enjoy three aspects of adventure here: Aero Sports, Trekking, and Skiing.
  2. If you have problem with heights, don't visit this place. It is situated at an altitude of 2,024 m above sea level.
  3. The STD code of this place is 0191. Please ask your friends and relatives to dial the correct STD code to call a particular phone number (say, phone number of a hotel or else) of the place.
  4. Rainfall here is quite heavy. In this district, the average rainfall hovers around 1,246 mm.
  5. If you want to reach Patnitop from Jammu, it will take you around 5 hours by bus and 3 ½ hours by taxi.
Cost to Travel

If you hire a car to reach Patnitop from Jammu, it will cost your around Rs. 1,200. If you hire a cab for travelling both ways, it will cost you around Rs. 4,000. Approximate per kilometer fare of hired cars vary from Rs. 9 to Rs. 15, depending upon the car you are selecting. Buses are also available and they are more affordable too. On a Deluxe Bus, a one way ride will cost you 1,000 INR.

How many days are enough to Travel?

To have a leisurely view of all the places in and around Patnitop, it will take you around 2 days. If you are on a skiing or trekking program, it will depend on the specific program itself.
