The high-profile bullet train will cut down travel time. It will take just two hours and 58 minutes to cover the journey between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. This is if the train halts at all the 12 stops, which is of 165 seconds duration each. Meanwhile, if the train stops at just four station - Ahmedabad, Vadodra, Surat, and Mumbai, then the same distance will be covered in an even lesser time span of two hours and seven minutes. Currently, it takes between seven and eight hours to cover the journey between the two cities.
It is expected that at the start of the operations, the railways will run 35 bullet trains. Each bullet train will have around 70 trips on a daily basis. However, by 2050, the number of trains would increase to 70. To begin with, the bullet train would have 10 coaches and the seating capacity would be 750 passengers. But, later on railways plans to increase the number of coaches to 16 and the seating capacity to 1,250 passengers.
The train would have 12 stations: Mumbai, Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad and Sabarmati and the fare would range between Rs 3,000 and Rs 5,000.
