St Joseph's Cathedral is a beautiful church in Secunderabad. Situated in the gun foundry region, it attracts a lot of tourists. Considered the best of all churches in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, Cathedral of Saint Joseph was built in around 1860 A.D. The construction pattern of cathedral is based on elaborate Italian style of architecture.
Monument in the Middle of Church
The central hall in the St Joseph's Cathedral in Secunderabad is really huge and can accommodate as many as 500 people. The church highlights an imitation of the masterpiece of Michelangelo, 'Pieta'. The imitation is as good as the real painting.
The Blessed Bells
The open bell tower on the top of the St Joseph's Cathedral, Secunderabad holds as many as five big bells. The ringing of the huge church bells tells the time to the entire city. These bells had been brought all the way from Italy. They are specially tuned bells and are considered extremely sacred. It is believed that these bells are blessed and have the power to drive out all evil spirits from the place. These bells are rung also to announce and warn people against any impending storm or other natural calamities.
