Established on 22nd November, 1993, Qatar Airways commenced its operations on 20th January, 1994. The Royal family of Qatar initially owned this airline. In the year 1997, the airline was re-launched with a new management. At present 50% of the Qatar Airways share is hold by the Qatar Government and the remaining by the private investors.
Apart from providing air travel services, Qatar Airways also offers cargo services, under the name of "Qatar Airways Cargo". The Qatar Airways cargo services serve 21 locations, among which 17 locations are also covered by the passenger services of the Qatar Airways.
Currently, Qatar Airways flights ply to 83 locations across 52 nations in Asia, Africa, Europe and North America.
