India Olympics Participants


Olympics, one of the greatest sports events in the world has been participated by Indians on most occasions. Indian participation in Olympics began in the early 20th century. After independence, India first participated in the Olympics in the year 1948.

In the earlier times as well as in the present times, India Olympics Participants are expert sportsmen and women who dominate the national sports events.

Indian Participants in Olympics were professional sportsmen and showed brilliance in sports like hockey, racing, archery, wrestling, tennis, weight lifting and shooting. Some renowned Indian sportsmen in Olympics were Khashaba Dadasaheb Jadhav, Lavy Pinto, Milkha Singh and Sriram Singh.

In the later years, some more successful India Olympics participants were P.T. Usha, Leander Paes, Shiny Abraham, Karnam Malleshwari and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.

The 2008 Olympics to be held in Beijing will also see Indian participation in events like archery, shooting, boxing, swimming, table tennis, wrestling and athletics. Some of the well known participants are Dola Banerjee, Mangal Singh Champia, Pranitha Vardhineni, Anju Bobby George, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Sunitha Rao and Neha Aggarwal.
