Dalhousie- Dainkund

Dalhousie- Dainkund is one of the most frequently undertaken tours from Dalhousie. The mountain of Dainkund rises to an altitude of 2,745 meters above sea level and provides a breathtaking view of the surrounding regions.

Dainkund is situated at a distance of 10 kilometers from the center of Dalhousie. The ascent to the Dainkund begins after a turn from the Lakkar Mandi. The Indian Air Force has an air base at the hill top. From this region, one can visit the Temple of Pholani Devi. A unique characteristic of this temple is the absence of the image of any deity. The holy trinity of Hindu mythology is worshiped in this temple.

The beautiful Dainkund Mountain is locally known as the singing hill. The whispering sound of the wind gushing through the wooded slopes creates the musical effect on the hill top. The melodious natural sound of the wind can be heard from atop the mountain. Below the Dainkund Mountain flow the glimmering streams of the rivers Ravi, Chenab and the Beas. Their meandering routes glisten in the sun and captivate the tourists who stand atop the Dainkund hill and views the stream vales below.
