Transportation in Haridwar

Transportation in Haridwar is one of the most efficient government utilities in the town. Located in the northern state of Uttaranchal, Haridwar is one of the holiest places in India for the Hindus.

There are several modes of transportation that are available in Haridwar. In the earlier days, the travelers and the pilgrims used to have a difficult time crossing the rivers and enduring several days of journey to reach this holy place. But nowadays, the government has facilitated this journey by making building state of the art roadways, railheads and nearby airports.

The nearest airport to this holy city is the Jolly Grant domestic airport at Dehra Dun, the capital of the state of Uttaranchal, located only a few kilometers from Haridwar. There is a railway station that is located in the town of Haridwar itself. Several trains ply from the national capital of New Delhi and other parts of the country to Haridwar.

The roadways leading to this destination are excellent as well. National Highway No. 45 runs through this city that enables safe and speedy road travel.
