Sonari, one of the regions of Jamshedpur, is primarily a residential area. The Sonari Airport, which is governed and run by Tata Steel, is the prime attraction of the place. The residential apartments that dot the place of Sonari in Jamshedpur are other appeals of this place. Each of the residential blocks of Sonari is facilitated by a separate market complex.
The Sonari aerodrome is today used by Tata Steel primarily for its own corporate use. Flights between Ranchi, Kolkata and Jamshedpur used to operate from this very Sonari air terminal till some years ago. However, no such facility is available now in Sonari airport.
Jamshedpur is a well-developed commercial city of India which has carved a niche in the Iron and Steel industry through the establishment of the Plants of Tata Steel. Tata Steel is considered as the major revenue generator for Jamshedpur today. Apart from local people a huge number of outsiders are also seen working in the Plants of Tata Steel in Jamshedpur.
Those who come from other parts of India more often than not hire or buy residential apartments in the Sonari area of Jamshedpur. Apart from having a proper transportation network, Sonari also boasts of serene natural aura because of the rivers that flow by its side.
It can be said that Sonari in itself is a prosperous and facilitating destination of Jamshedpur.
