Demographics of Junagadh



The demographics of Junagadh reveal the predomination of male population as compared to the females in the city.

According to the Census of India conducted in the year 2001, Junagadh city has a total population of 168,686 people. The aggregate is divided between 89, 935 males that comprise of 52% of the total population and 81,751 females that comprise of 48% of the total. Approximately, 18,489 persons of the total population belong to the age group between 0 to 6 years. This group comprises of 9,838 males and 8,651 females. Junagadh has achieved a literacy rate of 73%, which is higher than the national average. Of the total 122,301 literates in Junagadh, 67,290 are males while 55,011 are females.

Though the demographics of Junagadh is heterogeneous, the predominant religion is Hinduism. There are many Muslims living in Junagadh as well.
