Kothandaraswamy Temple



Only 12 kilometers from the heart of Rameshwaram, the Kothandaraswamy Temple is another popular destination. It is one of the Rameshwaram Tours that most of the tourists undertakes. The temple was severely damaged during the cyclone in 1964 and the current temple structure is the only existing one.

The Kothandaraswamy Temple of Rameshwaram is also associated with the legendary stories of Ramayana. It is said that, Ravana's brother Bhivisana shifted his loyalty and joined Lord Rama's army in this very place.

Dedicated to Rama, Sita, Hanuman and Bhivisana, the Kothandaraswamy Temple in Rameshwaram is very popular with the tourists and worshipers alike.
