2009 has been a significant year for Indian tennis. Somdev Devvarman has become the new ray of hope for Indian tennis these days. Considered as the next big thing in Indian tennis, Somdev created history by becoming the first Indian to enter into the final of ATP Chennai Open. He beat the giants like Carlos Moya and Ivo Karlovic on his way to the final. Yuki Bhambri also showed potential to be a big star in the future by wining the Junior Australian Open. In February 2009, he became the World Junior No. 1. Besides, the big names like Leander Paes won two grand slam titles this year, while Mahesh Bhupathi won one pairing up with Sania Mirza.
