Hindustan Petroleum Corporation LTD, Visakhapatnam



One of the prime oil refineries of the country, the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation LTD, Visakhapatnam is one of the pioneer organizations that turned the city into an industrial hub. An integral part of Visakhapatnam economy, the HPCL was established in 1957.

The company started with the name of Caltex Oil Refinery India Limited but changed to Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited after its takeover by the government in the year 1978. The Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Refinery in Vizag is one of the two refineries of the organization, the other being in Mumbai. Crude petroleum is converted in these refineries to produce lubricants, grease and numerous other value added products.
