The Gandhi Maidan is centrally located in the city of Patna. The Gandhi Maidan is a historical place and is considered as a landmark of the city. There are many important institutes that have developed around the area of Gandhi Maidan.
In the pages of the history of India, Gandhi Maidan holds a distinctive place. It is in this region that various historical movements during the independence struggle were launched. The vast stretch of land was earlier referred to as the Patna Lawns. The grounds were used for prayer meetings and political campaigns. The movement against the Champaran incident was launched on this ground. One of the most significant movements in Indian independence struggle was the Quit India Movement that was launched from the Gandhi Maidan. Among the various leaders who had visited the place are Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and Rajendra Prasad.
The Gandhi Maidan lies in the hub of the city of Patna. There are many places around the sprawling grounds that one can visit. Within a distance of half a kilometer lies the granary of Golgarh that was built in 1786 by the British. The Golgarh Falls is also located there.
