The automobile factories and plants of Vijayawada manufacture, repair and deal in various components of the automobile industry like wheel bolts, ball bearings, clutch parts, brakes etc. Painting and other finishing jobs are also done here.
There are about 1500 automobile accessory units in the city and near about 1,00,000 workers are employed in these industries. Apart from workers of the city, people from other parts of the state also come to work in the industrial estate.
The ATA or Automobile Technicians' Association has plans to conduct training programs for the workers and safeguard their job security. This way the workers can compete with the fierce market competition.
