3rd ODI, India Vs Australia

A brilliant 121 runs off 115 balls by Yuvraj Singh proved insufficient to stop the Aussie juggenaut as they posted another comfortable 47-run win in the 3rd India Vs Australia ODI played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Friday.

Earlier in the day, Australia scored an excellent score of 290 in 50 overs, powered by an exceptional 89 run knock by Symonds which helped them put Indians under pressure and fetch three easy wickets for a mere 13 runs in the very first few overs.

The Indian nightmare started in the third over itself with Gautam Gambhir being given out on a delivery by Brett Lee, which pitched in dead in front of his stumps. To make matters worse, soon Robin Utthappa and Rahul Dravid were also on their way back to the pavilion for ducks.

Rahul Dravid was unfortunate enough to give his prized wicket away with an outside edge catapulted into a brilliant catch by Matthew Hayden. Indians hopes were flared once again when Yuvraj built up a solid 95 run partnership with Sachin Tendulkar, before the ominous fall of Sachin's wicket.

The writing on the wall became only too clear after Aussies fetched Dhoni's wicket when he was only into a 65 run partnership with Yuvraj. The singular efforts of Yuvraj thus went in vain even as he helplessly watched wickets falling at the other end and India ended up with a score of 243 for 10 wickets in 47.4 overs. Currently placed 2-0 down in the 7-ODI cricket match series against Australia, India now faces the uphill task of winning the rest of the 4 cricket matches in order to win the series.
