Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium



Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium is one of the finest Cricket Stadiums in India. This multipurpose stadium was constructed in the year 1982 by the Government of India. The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi will be the main venue for the athletic events to be held during the 2010 Commonwealth games. The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium is the third largest stadium in India.

Several good cricket performances took place in this Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The first One day International cricket match was played on 28 September, 1984 between India and Australia. Apart from sports like football and cricket this cricket stadium is also the venue for various kinds of entertaining performances like concerts by notable musicians and singers.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium can accommodate a total of 75,000 guests for cricket and football matches, approximately 100,000 guests for athletic events. For concerts this cricket ground can accommodate a total of 130,000 guests at a time.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium also houses the main offices of the Indian Olympic Committee. This stadium also hosted the 9th India Asian Games.
