The Rishikul State Ayurvedic College in Haridwar is affiliated to the H.N.B. Garhwal University. The college awards the degrees of B.A.M.S. (Ayurvedacharya) and the M.D. (Ayurveda) on completion of the course on medicine. The college also has a 154-bedded hospital that is managed by the administrative staff of the college.

The Gurukul Kangri University is one of the most reputed universities of the country that is located in the picturesque setting on the banks of the River Ganga in Haridwar city. The educational institute was established by Swamy Shradhanand. It received the university in the year 1962 from the Government of India. The university offers courses in the study of ancient arts and sciences. The language of Sanskrit is also taught in the university.
