World Automotive Conference

The World Automotive Conference is a platform with over eight hundred attendees from every sector in the international automotive industry. It is an event where people connect and share ideas, innovations and technological breakthroughs across all sectors of the Automotive industry. The conference allows experienced professionals with knowledge and understanding of the industry, impart their visions and learning to enable sustainable growth and development across all sectors.

The 2019 WAC held at Istanbul, Turkey was all about the rapid transformation and redefinition of the Industry standards and functions in the digital age. Computing has enabled paradigm shifts across all aspects of human life and the next stage of evolution has just begun.

Organised at the Wyndham Grand Hotel in Levent, the Conference hosted senior representatives of various automotive companies and their ancillaries. More than fifty speakers delivered notes and held discussions paralleling with the latest trends of the industry. They spoke about moving in the direction of sustainable economic models by understanding and catering to the evolving market demand.

The digitization of the industry technology is now a priority and every process is being reinvented with a more electronic and digitized dna.

Technologies like Blockchain, Internet of Things and AI have enabled manufacturers to achieve higher production efficiency. The new rapid progression of tech advancements are pushing the envelope of innovation with every cycle. VPs and Executive Directors have all had only the most encouraging things to say at the conference, about how Digitization has brought us leaps closer to the ultimate cars of the future.

Connected devices were among the most frequent mentions, almost paralleling with start-ups and application based business management. The sounds of powerful internal combustions haven’t even faded, and the industry is already moving towards the quiet march of the electric. The industry has refocused from the unidirectional customer satisfaction motif, to the multi-faceted advancement towards building a better ecosystem by making cleaner cars, mass transport solutions and autonomous mobility. These developments are automatically leading the way towards smarter, more compact infrastructure.

Through more than fifty interactive sessions, these veterans of the automotive industry shared their beliefs on how Data and softwares are enabling and executing strategic thinking. They spoke on the key trends that are going to help shape the future of the industry organism.

Partnerships

Ever since its inception, the automotive industry has seen some of its greatest developments and achievements through partnerships between capable, experienced individuals or institutions, that have come together with their expertise to bring about breakthroughs in products or processes. Sharing of ideas and resources often leads to meaningful ventures that bring phenomenal changes to industrial growth and function. They help tackle the most imminent problems simply by altering the approach and methodology.

The Executive Director of Automotive Design, Maxim Integrated calls the automobile of the future – an environment by itself. He says that when autonomous driving will become easily accessible and affordable, masses would be able to experience their entire world differently. The only important things in cars other than aesthetics and function, would be information, entertainment, and safety.  Since digitization has enabled finger-tip access to almost all features, partnering with tech development organizations would prove very beneficial. It will be equally important to share and develop strategies with respective governments.

Connectivity

The autonomous driving experience would be vastly dependent on high bandwidth connections inside and all around the future car. High speed connectivity will enable safer driving and mobility altering experiences in these cars. It would also allow easier data accumulation from public transport, traffic cams, parking areas and automobile service networks building seamless channels of flow.

Need oriented solutions

Innovation relies on needs. Necessity may be the mother of invention, but it is also the aunt of innovation.  Examples of discussions include rapid development in EV infrastructure, car-pool applications enabling reduction in traffic and internal-combustion-generated pollution, and the flow of Information technology’s problem solving methods into automotive processes of development. The three stage process – as described – involves data collection, collaboration with multinational or local bodies for processing and idea development, and controlled execution.

Agility for Innovation

CIO of FIAT, Omer Ozgur explained how information technology helped reshape the company’s strategies for marketing and sales. With the growing numbers of aware consumers and the constantly evolving market demands, digitization of all entities is the first step in industrial advancement. Information Technology has become a vital organ of all strategy defining bodies in global automotive companies and has active inputs in decision making, research and development, production management, and sales. After sales service has been the most easily adaptable to the digital platforms of consumer-input based applications, and has helped speed up the process of interaction, need verification and problem eradication.

Executives also spoke about the importance of having an evolved mindset, which is the very first step each individual in the industry should initiate in order to understand the endless possible directions one can take in this dynamic industrial evolution.
