IPL 2023: Viacom18 Signs Up 12 Streaming Sponsors

Dream11, Parle, ET Money, TVS, Puma, Mondelez, Kamla Pasand, ITC, Pepsi, Castrol, and UltraTech Cement are others listed as sponsors

Thirteen streaming sponsors have signed on with Viacom18 to support the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The business owns the digital rights to the IPL and will make all 74 of the tournament’s games available to everyone online for free streaming on its JioCinema app. Dream11, Parle, ET Money, TVS, Puma, Mondelez, Kamla Pasand, ITC, Pepsi, Castrol, and UltraTech Cement are others listed as sponsors. In addition to these names, the business has agreements for sponsorship with companies in the consumer electronics, e-commerce, automotive accessories, and four-wheeler industries.

The organisation has secured numerous spot purchasers in addition to sponsors. Over 500 firms are anticipated to promote throughout the IPL live streaming, according to Viacom18. The corporation closed sponsorship and advertising deals totalling Rs. 2,700 crore. “These ad deals are 1.5-1.6 times the ad revenue collected by Disney+ Hotstar from IPL last year,” a top corporate executive stated on condition of anonymity.

Viacom18 has set an ambitious ad revenue target of 3,700 crore, as previously reported by ET. The costs associated with co-presenting will fall between 175-250 crore. The expenses for associate sponsors would likely range from 40 to 60 crore. A 10-second mid-roll ad has a 200 cost per mille (CPM). The CPM for the pre-roll advertisement will be 225 for a 10-second spot. The ad fee for a live game on connected TV (CTV) is 6.5 lakh per 10 seconds. Advertisers can target audiences using the company’s geo clusters, state, device, age, and premium audiences data.

Viacom18 has chosen Sizmek by Amazon as its primary ad measurement partner for the IPL. With Sizmek’s measurement procedures for impression & click tracking and geo-location, the agreement will assist Viacom18’s advertising clients in validating reports of the campaigns they execute on Jio Cinema.

MS Dhoni as brand ambassador

IPL in 4K quality with multi-cam functionality will be made available by Viacom18 on JioCinema. All telecom providers would offer the matches in 12 different languages, including English, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Odia, and Gujarati. The business has enlisted MS Dhoni as its brand ambassador and wants to spend Rs 400 crore marketing the property. Together with Dhoni, Viacom18 has selected Suryakumar Yadav to serve as the brand ambassador for JioCinema.

Viacom18 aims to use the success of Dhoni and Yadav to promote its concept of using digital as the platform for all of its content.
