Know about the best and most powerful seeds

Consumption of different seeds is beneficial for everyone’s health.

Here are some of the best seeds to consume:

• Flax seeds 

These are pretty useful in arthritis, acidity, prevention of heart diseases, constipation, diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, cholesterol and hormonal problems. Vitamin B and E present in them are effective in preventing hair fall and helps them to grow. If you find it challenging to digest whole seeds, then roasting or grinding them is fine. Just take two teaspoons or 10 grams in the morning and evening. Do not consume more than 25 grams of flax in a day. 

  • Sunflower seeds

Sunflower seeds help keep the heart healthy, reduce cholesterol, lowering the risk of heart attack and stroke. These seeds are also helpful in reducing tension, headache and migraine. They can be roasted and consumed as a snack, in curry/gravy, in pasta/salad seasoning, mixed veg, omelette or mixed in any dish. Five grams or one teaspoon is enough in the morning and evening. Consume these seeds only after removing the skin, or problems like indigestion, vomiting, and stomach pain can occur.

  • Pumpkin seeds

The consumption of pumpkin seeds is beneficial for stress, headache and depression. These are also helpful in increasing immunity. They keep the brain, heart, skin and so on. You can consume the pumpkin seeds by grinding, soaking or sprouting in salads, soups, sandwiches etc. 5-10 grams is sufficient.

  • Chia seeds

Chia seeds help reduce weight due to their high fibre content, and it makes you feel full for a longer period. Apart from this, the skin, hair and immunity stay fine. It is better and better to consume them on empty stomachs. They can be consumed by soaking in water, adding to smoothies, protein bars, salad dressings, or other dishes. 10-20 grams can be consumed daily. 

What if you are allergic to seeds? 

To check if you are allergic to the seeds:

  1. Take 5 grams of the same type of seeds.
  2. Use only if there is no harm.
  3. Do not take more than 20-25 grams in a day. If you have digestive problems and low blood sugar, take special care of the quantity.
  4. Do not consume any seeds in large quantities. 

Other seeds that we have been adding to our diet include watermelon seeds, melon seeds, bean seeds, Chironji, poppy seeds, and sesame seeds. While making their small sweet balls, pudding, syrup, or sweet dishes, do not use too much sweetness. Otherwise, there will be loss instead of benefit. There is a lot of salt in roasted seeds available in the market, so use them after roasting them at home.
