Each one of us has had some connection with the traditional Indian cuisine. People in our generation would still remember the marriage ceremonies being conducted without the use of caterers, using the services of halwai’s who used to be stationed in the house for days for the preparation. I also have some faint memories from my childhood and the makings of pakwaan, sweet and savory. However there are still people and families who make these at home. Since I like this too, I made Shakkar Paare today, they go well as snacks and you can serve them when some guests come calling. They are all sugary and easy to make. Let’s see how to make them with this Shakkar Paare Recipe.

For Paare

Maida – 2 cup

Preparation time: 10 min.

Cooking time: 20 min.

Boil water and sugar in a pan to make the sugar syrup, remove any impurities and keep aside.

Take a golf size ball of dough and roll it into a disc about 5 mm thick (slightly more than a paratha).

Prick all over with a fork to avoid puffing during frying.

Cut into desired small shapes.

Heat oil in a kadhai and fry the paare on both sides till light brown.

Dip them in the sugar syrup, take out and dry on a plate.
