Saharsh Scheme: Meaning, Objectives, Eligibility Criteria And More

The Tripura government launched a scheme titled “Saharsh,” a particular state-run education programme that will encourage social and emotional learning at government schools of the state. State Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath launched this scheme at the inauguration event of the 49th state-level science, mathematics, and environment exhibition in Agartala. As per Indian Express, he stated that the “Saharsh initiative would help children learn with happiness and contribute to empathetic development of the state, nation and their own and “An education institution’s aim should be to create knowledge and spread it to the last person. In today’s time, the biggest challenge is to educate the heart and mind.

This similar type of initiative was researched at Harvard and Columbia University. This scheme was already launched in August last year in 40 government schools on a pilot basis or can, say, on a trial basis. But after the successful project or scheme implementation and its positive result, this scheme was re-introduced. It is set to be implemented at all government schools in Tripura. Students will be able to enjoy the benefits from the second of January. Due to this scheme, government schools are expected to get high demand and higher admissions.

Objectives 

  • It is to provide non-pressurized education to the children in schools, as this is possible through social and emotional learning patterns or techniques.
  • The scheme works on happiness education

 Eligibility Criteria 

  • As this initiative was by the Government of Tripura, therefore only students from Tripura will be able to enjoy or witness this scheme
  • Only students studying in Government schools will be benefited from the scheme, private school students will not get benefited from this scheme

  • Will provide Tension free education to the govt school students
  • More than 200 teachers have been trained under this scheme
  • 30 headmasters from different districts have been made the Ambassador of this initiative/scheme
  • This scheme will also implement at Government Schools in Tripura
  • All modules about the scheme are uploaded on the SCERT website
  • 204 schools prepared for the Saharsh Curriculum
  • The Education Minister had also launched a special ‘Saharsh” guideline handbook for the teachers
