What movies to watch in isolation? We have all the answers here.

An American movie is buzzing on the internet namely ‘Quarantine’ released in 2008’s fall, which is a remake of Spain’s first-person-chiller ‘REC’. The title of the movie is suggestive enough of how it became a rave on the internet.

In the heart of the Christmas week in December 2019, some news started pouring in from China about a deadly virus killing thousands of people in the country. And in the fullness of time, the fate of the entire world changed alarmingly.

The novel Coronavirus has now affected more than 200 countries and 860,181 positive cases as on April 1, and the rate of fatalities is increasing every passing day across the globe.

The World Health Organization (WHO) reported the lethal virus to spread from person-to-person through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. And to protect people and slow down transmission, countries have declared long and extended quarantines.

The social distancing measures halted the lives of millions and enforced everyone to stay-at-home. As the implementation is the very same for everyone, the situation and the ball game is not.

In one hand, where social media is buzzing with “stay-at-home” posts of cooking, art therapy and Netflix, the other side of the story reads poverty, domestic violence and the dreadful fate of migrant workers. Also, the toll it is taking on the mental health of some, regardless of the prerogative and entitlement.

‘Quarantine’ is the story of an aggressive elderly woman who quarantined herself in an apartment and sank her teeth into people’s skin, from which one becomes sick and insane. A piece of news about it is reported and cameraman, Angela Vidal and Scott Percival when informed about the situation, they run to rescue residents of the building. And the story unfolds through fanatic pacing, which shows the psychological imbalance that can be caused due to self-isolation and seclusion.

Unfortunately, the much-needed, yet the prolonged isolation in the world currently can take a toll on a person’s condition concerning their psychological and emotional well-being. And the film which was made 12 years back describes the set of circumstances which the world is moving in the direction.

Apart from ‘Quarantine’, some more films which can be relatable with the present scenario is ‘Contagion’ which is a 2011 American thriller directed by Steven Soderbergh about a lethal airborne virus which can kill within days of contracting. The worldwide medical community is finding a cure to contain the virus in the movie. The film is available on online streaming platform Prime Video.

Besides, ‘Pandemic’, ‘Birdbox’, ‘A Quiet Place’, and ‘Trapped’ are some of the other movies which are available on Netflix that can also be watched in the same apocalyptic genre.
