Analysis
Have you seen the trailer? The film is exactly that. Two muscular men clashing against each other, showcasing all they have such as muscle, abs, Greek God like stature and … sex appeal. No doubt, there is ample amount of twist and turns in order to justify the genre – thriller, but eventually it all zero downs to serious action.
However, to have a base of that glamorization, patriotism has been chosen to prove who is more loyal to the nation. Rest is high-speed chases, cars, rotorcrafts, acrobatics, stunning locations and loud background score. If it sounds typical Bollywood … it is typical Bollywood.
Hrithik Roshan is the man in the film. After his portrayal of low earning teacher in his successful film ‘Super 30’, his presence in this movie is God-like and the world of war revolves around him. He gets the meatiest lines, hero like entry and scenes but without any intricacies of the character he is playing. Whereas, unlike other Tiger Shroff movies, there are complexities in Shroff‘s character. More than his physical prowess, the actor seems to deliver.
‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ actor Vaani Kapoor gets at least a song to show her dance moves and her beauty. Swaroopa Ghosh, a dramatist is also a sheer waste of talent.
All in all, War is a powerhouse, action-packed entertainment and is an amalgamation of so many other films of similar genre with a different representation.
