Know About The Unique Identification Authority Of India’s Aadhaar Face RD Application

It captures the user's face for Aadhaar authentication using face authentication technology.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched a new mobile app, “Aadhaar face RD”. It captures the user’s face for Aadhaar authentication using face authentication technology. The new app for Aadhaar will be easily available on Playstore to authenticate Aadhaar holders with the 12-digit unique identification number using their face.

Not only this, but another purpose of launching this app is to prevent any Aadhaar duplication. Due to this new move of UIDAI, there would be no more misuse and duplication of the Aadhaar. The process of face recognition will be launched in a phase-wise manner. First, it will be launched in the telecom sector, and then in the banking sector and after reviewing the process, it will be found nationally.

What does the UIDAI stand for?

UIDAI stands for Unique Identification Authority of India, a statutory body of government established based on the provisions of the Aadhaar act 2016 on 12 July 2016 under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

The unique identification Authority of India was formed for the Indian residents to reduce or diminish the amount of duplicate and fake identities. This was the best-suited authentication source as it was easy to gather, cheap and cost-effective. According to data issued by UIDAI, a total of 131.68 crore Aadhaar numbers were given till 31 October 2021 to Indian residents.

What is Aadhaar Face RD App?

Adhaar face RD App is a UIDAI’s won manufactured technology launched for Indian residents only. Through this app, Aadhar users can verify their unique Identification number from any place and at any time. People can capture the face of Aadhar users and verify their identity, which will be helpful for tasks like Jeevan pramaan, PDS, Scholarship schemes, Covid vaccination and other government schemes. A few things that should be kept in mind during verification is the “clarity of background” since the photo will be the primary identification mark. There should be no background hurdles that may delay authentication cancellation.

According to the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) Ajay Bhushan Pandey, the “Aadhar face RD app” is an eminent move for senior citizens as well as for manual workers. He says, “Senior citizens as well as those elderly manual workers whose fingerprint has been unintentionally removed or are not able to get their fingermark will get benefits through this opportunity of face recognition. Due to no fingerprint mark, locals were not able to avail the facilities of commodities through government.”

How will face recognition be a beneficial move?

In the matter of authentication and security, Ajay Bhushan Pandey informs that this process is not any problematic or different authentication method but an easy move and a more secure method of authentication for the Indian people.

 Benefits

1. Easy to Use

This method of authentication is easy to be done and easy to avail. Nowadays, everyone has a phone, a tab and a laptop carrying cameras. By using a standard camera, people can access and verify themselves.

2. Cheap move

During accessing the Aadhaar verification of face recognition, no other method or application has to be used. Just a normal technology which is widely available.

3. More secure as an additional factor of authentication

Sharing the views on face recognition, the former CEO of UIDAI emphasized security and safety regarding the use and availability of aadhaar. Along with the 12-digit number of the Aadhaar, a photo can make it safer, which will be taken on the spot.

While talking about the privacy-to-face recognition idea, Ajay Bhushan Pandey shared his thoughts about privacy. He said that privacy is a fundamental right, and we make sure that there is not any flaw in this process of authentication.
