Day 20 – Kankavali to Devrukh, Maharashtra (Kanyakumari to Leh Cycling)

Riding all alone

Hills took the real test of my stamina today all the way. After a little change in my plan, I thought of stopping today directly at my next day’s pit stop but little did I know that there will be hills and zigzag road today where I rode alone most of the time with very few vehicles passing by. Post Rajapur, instead of going through the main highway, I took another small highway; roads of which were broken and I am glad to have taken this decision as I got to see the laid-back and so simple lifestyle of villagers that came on my way through this route.

I know that I can give up anytime when I feel tired and take accommodation in whichever next town is and that is what happens when you do not have fixed goal in your mind. There is nothing to push you and you live in your comfortable zone, thus stop growing. I always like to push myself through any hard situation and this is what shows my attitude towards things in life.

I arrived at a place where I thought I would stay for the night but seeing nothing important in the town, I did not even got down of cycle and rode ahead to another town which was 17 kilometers ahead. On my way through hills, I stopped for water at a stall and this was the only stall I found in 10 kilometers. Seeing my cycle, a person asked me where I was coming from and slowly the conversation started. Later, he offered me a cup of tea. People were pretty excited to see me and were taking interest in my stories.

I reached Devrukh, a small town, at 4 pm after riding for 130 kilometers and 10 hours.
