About Sawai Mansingh Stadium

The Sawai Mansingh Stadium is an elite cricket stadium in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The stadium has a seating capacity of around 30,000 spectators. With the renovation in the year 2006, the stadium saw the addition of media rooms, galleries, two new media rooms and increased seating capacity. A world class cricket academy was also established, which included 28 appointed rooms, a gym, a swimming pool and two conference halls.

The Sawai Mansingh Stadium was built during the rule of Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II and is also known as SMS Stadium. The Sawai Mansingh Stadium hosted the single test match between India and Pakistan in the year 1987. On this day, the President of Pakistan General Zia-ul-Haq crossed the border just to watch the match as an initiative of his Cricket-for-Peace proposal.

The stadium also hosted two World Cup matches in the year 1987 and 1996.

The Sawai Man Singh Stadium is located on one side of the Rambagh Circle. The stadium can be reached by the new metro line. At present, one line of the Jaipur Metro connects the city to the stadium; the other line is under construction.

Therefore, the best season to visit this wonderful city is during the winter months from October till March. The maximum temperature is around 20-22 degrees, when the intensity of the scorching sun is at its lowest. During the nights, the temperature drop to about 5 degrees, while the days are extremely pleasant, and you can enjoy every bit of the city's heritage beauty and take back a memorable experience.

How to Reach

The domestic airport is at a distance of 15 km from the main city at Sanganer, while the international airport is at a distance of 10 km. From the airport, you can hire a taxi or a bus and reach your desired destination in and around Jaipur.
