Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Ltd.



Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited was set up in the year 1976. The company is completely owned by the Government of India.

The main aim of this iron ore company was to develop the mines and the facilities within the plant so as to bring the production level of the iron ore to 7.5 million tonnes.

Kudremukh is known for large deposits of iron. This famous iron ore company of Karnataka was set up in Mangalore because it is one of the largest and nearest seaport to Kudremukh. The iron concentrate produced at Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited near Mangalore is transported to the seaport at Mangalore, which is located 110 kilometers away from the ores. From the seaport, the concentrates are exported to foreign locales through ships.

The two main products of Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited are the pellets and iron ore concentrates. Pellets are used in direct reduction plants and blast furnaces, while the iron ore concentrates produced by the company is best suited for pelletisation and sinter feed.
