Reliance Energy Associated Companies


Reliance Energy Associated Companies are the ones, the initiative of whose installation was taken up by the Reliance Energy Limited. These include the Goa Power Station, Dahanu House TPS and the Wind Farm Projects.

The Reliance Group is committed to the task of power generation through the Reliance Energy Associated Companies. Some of these include the Goa Power Station, the Dahanu TPS and the Wind Farm Projects. The Reliance Energy Limited has established a separate division dedicated to the initiation, designing, functioning and engineering of projects related to power generation. This branch of the company is assigned with the responsibility of executing in house projects as well as extending their support to its associate companies.

The Goa Power Station

The is Goa Power Station one such initiative undertaken by the Reliance Energy Limited. The government of the State of Goa initiated a bidding process for the task of installing a number of power stations in the state in 1996. The bid was won by the Reliance Salgaocar Power Company Limited or the RSPCL which was later incorporated into the Reliance Energy Limited. The Goa Power Station has managed to generate around 350 MU in the years 2005-06. It also strives towards the conservation of energy by keeping a check on the in house consumption of power. Goa Power has some of the leading industries as its consumers. These include

    Dahanu House TPS

    The Dahanu House TPS, located at a distance of about 120 km from Mumbai, is deemed as the largest power generation facility of Reliance Energy Limited. It is almost a ' state of the art' power generation plant with a production capacity of 500 MW. This thermal power generation station uses coal as a fuel. It is different from the other thermal power generation stations in the country by virtue of its use of upgraded technological means.

    Wind Farm Projects

    Reliance Energy has also ventured inti the development of Wind Farm Projects. These projects are in tandem with the contemporary trend of the usage of renewable sources of energy. One such undertaking of the REL was the one that was initiated at Jogimatti in the Chitradurga district of Karnataka with a capacity of 8.37 MW. Another Wind farm project was the one commissioned in 2003 and with a generation capacity of 1.8 MW. All the projects taken together are expected to yield an annual total of 23.94 million units.
