The art and craft of Bhavnagar has evolved in the past years by a process of assimilation that has provided the artisans an opportunity to expand the horizon of creative expression. Consequently, Bhavnagar produces cotton drapes with embroidery popular in the other regions of the state. Bhavnagar has long been popular as a cotton trading post. The city has also prospered due to the trade in diamonds. The carved diamonds that are intricately cut and designed in Bhavnagar, reflect the expertise of the artisans in this craft.
