Districts of Gujarat



Gujarat is a state in western India. All the districts of Gujarat display the prosperous economy of the state.

There are 25 districts of Gujarat. The names of the districts of Gujarat are as follows:

  • Ahmedabad District: The city of Ahmedabad is the district headquarters. Ahmedabad is located on the banks of the Sabarmati river. Among all the districts of Gujarat, Ahmedabad is the most prosperous one.

  • Amreli District: The district headquarters of Amreli District is located at Amreli. Amreli district occupies an area of 6,760 square kilometers.

  • Anand District: Anand is the administrative headquarters of Anand district. Anand district is bounded by Kheda district to the north, Vadodara district to the east, Ahmedabad district in the west and the Gulf of Cambay in the south.

  • Banaskantha: The place is named after the West Banas river. The river flows towards the Rann of Kutch.

  • Bharuch: It is located on the southern part of the Gujarat peninsula.

  • Bhavnagar: Bhavnagar is a peninsular district of western Gujarat. Bhavnagar city is the administrative headquarters of the district.

  • Dahod district: The city of Dahod is the administrative headquarters of the district. It was formerly part of Panchmahal district.

    Dang: The district headquarters are located at Ahwa.

  • Gandhinagar District: The district headquarters are located at Gandhinagar. Gandhinagar is the capital of Gujarat state. Gandhinagar district is bounded by the districts of Sabarkantha, Kheda, Ahmedabad and Mehsana.

  • Jamnagar District: The district headquarters is Jamnagar. The renowned ancient city of Dwarka is said to be located in this district.

  • Junagadh District: Junagadh district is located on the Kathiawar peninsula in western Gujarat. The city of Junagadh is the administrative headquarters.

  • Kheda District: Kheda city is the administrative headquarters of Kheda district.

  • Kutch: It is the largest district amongst all the districts of Gujarat.

  • Mehsana District: Mehsana is the administrative headquarters of Mehsana district.

  • Narmada: The district headquarters is Rajpipla.

  • Navsari District: Navsari is the headquarters of Navsari district.

  • Panchmahal: Panchmahal district occupies the eastern portion of Gujarat state.

  • Patan District: Patan district is located at the northern part of Gujarat.

  • Porbandar District: Porbandar is the administrative headquarters of Porbandar district.
