Alappuzha oder Alleppey, bekannt als "Venice of east", ist der kleinste Bezirk von Kerala. Gemei├čelt aus ehemaligen Kottayam und Kollam Bezirken wurde dieser Bezirk am 17. August 1957 gebildet. Wenn es um Bev├Âlkerungsdichte geht, steht er an der ersten Stelle mit 1492 Personen pro Quadratkilometer nach Volkz├Ąhlung 2001. Der Bezirk verf├╝gt ├╝ber das Netzwerk von Wasserstra├čen und Backwaters (Stausee). Die wichtigen Fl├╝sse sind Manimala, Pampa und Achancovil. Die Religion gennant als Kuttanad, die Reisschale von Kerala, ist der einzige Ort in der Welt, wo Landwirtschaft unten dem Meer gemacht worden ist.
