Fatima Mata National College in Kollam



Established by late Reverend Dr. Jerome M Fernandez, the Fatima Mata National College in Kollam is one of the few special grade colleges in the state. The college started teaching students from 1952.

The Fatima Mata National College was founded to cater to the higher educational requirements of the comparatively economically weak Christian community in the region. The college is socially responsible and takes a more sympathetic view of the poorer section of the local population. The outlook of Fatima Mata National College in Kollam is secular.

The Fatima Mata National College has produced many students who have topped the university examinations since its inception in 1965. The list of notable alumni of the college includes the former Olympian Suresh Babu. Suresh Babu was funded by the college to take part in the international competition.

The present principal of Fatima Mata National College of Kollam is Prof. G. Henry. This Kollam College offers undergraduate courses in the following subjects:
  • English Language
  • English literature
  • Zoology
  • Chemistry
  • Vocational courses on polymer chemistry are also offered by the college authority. The Bachelor of Commerce course is also offered by Fatima Mata National College.
