Guwahati is the largest city of Assam and one of the most developed cities of the North-Eastern region of India. It is situated on the south side of Brahmaputra river and is known as the city of Eastern light. Guwahati is also one of the fastest growing cities in India. By rail:

The city has its own railway station named the Guwahati Railway Station which is located in the Paltan Bazar area of the city.

By road:

The city is well-connected to various major cities of the north-east region. National highway 31, 37 etc. connect this city with Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
