How to access the GitHub Student Developer pack?

Being a student is not easy. With cost-prohibitive programs, learning new skills and courses could become a difficult task. Therefore, apps, programs and professional-grade software are necessary for modern-day students.

GitHub Education is an online platform that offers learners real-world knowledge to various developer tools free of cost. With 65+ million Developers, 3+ million Organizations, 200+ million Repositories and 72% Fortune 50, GitHub remains a preferable choice for teachers and students worldwide. In addition, using GitHub for school projects leads to collaboration with others and build a portfolio.

The developer pack includes several useful apps like Canva, Microsoft Azure, Data Camp, PomoDone and many more. With collective offers in the Pack valued at over $12,000 per student, the developer packs are utilised for free. The Student Pack lasts for two years, and students can reiterate the plan if they are still studying at that point.

Here is how one can access the GitHub Student Developer pack:

Step 1: Go to the link:

(https://help.github.com/en/articles/applying-for-a-student-developer-pack ) or visit the website Github.com and select GitHub Education by clicking on the explore button. Now click the ‘benefit’ button in the top right corner.

Step 2: Select ‘Student’ under the “Which best describes your academic status?” option while selecting the educational institute’s email.

Step 3: If you want to upload the documents, click the ‘Use your camera’ option to take a picture and place the valid academic ID or current academic status in the margin while clicking the take photo button. You can upload the documents from the computer itself.

Step 4: Enter your school’s name and describe how you propose to use GitHub. Click on the ‘Submit your information’ option after verification of the details.

A student ID is required to apply for the developer pack. However, if the educational institution does not provide email addresses to students, they can apply for the program using the dated student ID. If not, they can upload the academic records that prove the prevailing student status.
