Being from the northern part of India, I had a distinctive love for something different, and India being such a large country it never disappoints in its cuisines which always offer something new and something different from various regions. On my food journey’s this has been a late entry but its just yummy to eat. People who love dosas and idli’s would also find this tempting as a very similar batter is used to make Kuzhi Paniyaram. This dish comes from the state of Tamil Nadu and is made using specific mold called paniyaram pan available in markets from leading cookery and utensils companies. Kuzhi Paniyaram recipe includes mostly the rice batter, however to make it slightly more interesting I added some onions, tomatoes and chili to the batter. Ingredients needed for Kuzhi Paniyaram
Dosa batter – 3 cups
Onion – 1\2 cup ( chopped )
Tomato – 1\4 cup ( chopped )
Green chili – 1 tsp ( chopped )
Green coriander – 2 tbsp ( chopped )
Salt to taste
How to make Kuzhi Paniyaram
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Mix dosa batter with onions, tomato, green chili, green coriander and salt.
Lightly oil the paniyaram pan.
Fill the molds with the batter.
Cook on medium heat till they turn slightly brown from one side.
Turn the paniyarams on the other side and cook from the other side as well.
Serve hot with peanut chutney or coconut chutney.
