Recipe For Telangana’s Makka Jonna Gaka

“Makka Jonna Gatka” (Corn Porridge) has been a basic staple food for many decades in Telangana. This food is associated with the cultural significance of the state. It is a simple and light dish that makes you feel so comfortable. It is highly recommended as a morning breakfast. It is a nutritious food and good if you are involved in a weight loss journey. It takes almost no time to cook because it has not many ingredients except a few that make up the whole dish. Rural Telangana is well known for any Gatka. Ingredients

  • 1 cup Corn Rava
  • 4 cups Water
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp pepper

Recipe

  • Firstly, we will need corn rava.
  • We can get it directly in Stores, or it can be made at home also.
  • Take 1 cup of Corn Rava in a bowl.
  • Sprinkle some water in it and mix.
  • Don’t add too much water; just Sprinkle the water to wet the rava.
  • Mix and put it aside.
  • For 1 cup of Rava, add 4 cups water to a bowl.
  • Add 1/2 teaspoon of Salt, ½ tsp pepper close the lid.
  • Let the Water Boil.
  • As the water starts to boil, add some water again.
  • Add the Corn Rava.
  • Make sure to Mix immediately so that no lumps are formed.
  • Cook on medium flame.
  • We can see that the consistency of the mixture has become nice and thick.
  • Now, put the Stove on low flame till the Rava cooks completely.
  • Stir and cook.
  • Cut off the Stove when the Consistency is a little loose.
  • Since the consistency will become thick after it cools down.
  • Gatka is Ready to Serve.

Tip– serve the Gatka with spicy pickles to add some good taste.
