Father Sugar Singh planned to turn him into a wrestler. Still, he launched his political career in Jaswant Nagar, the ancestral assembly district of Nathu Singh, after persuading his political instructor Chaudhary Nathusingh to wrestle at a competition held in Mainpuri.

After receiving his postgraduate (MA) and bachelor’s degree (BT) in political science from Agra University, Mulayam Singh Yadav was named spokesman at Inter College before entering politics. He withdrew from his position while still engaged in politics.

Political Career

Mulayam Singh Yadav is a prominent farm worker and socialist in North India. Mulayam Singh began his political journey as an MLA in Uttar Pradesh after being born into a modest farming family. 

Mulayam Singh’s influence quickly spread over the entirety of Uttar Pradesh. Mulayam Singh made significant contributions to the advancement of the OBC community in Uttar Pradesh on a social dimension. 

OBCs play a pivotal role in Uttar Pradesh politics due to their social consciousness. Mulayam Singh was elected to the Legislative Assembly for the very first time in 1967 and was appointed a minister. 

He held the office of Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh three times, from December 5, 1989, to January 24, 1991; December 5, 1993, to June 3, 1996; and August 29, 2003, to May 11, 2007. In addition, he has served as the Central Government’s Minister Of defence. The Yadav community in Uttar Pradesh has Mulayam Singh as its most prominent leader. 

Mulayam Singh bravely helped to preserve social unity in Uttar Pradesh. Mulayam Singh identifies as a secular politician. The Samajwadi Party, which he leads, is thought to be the dominant political party in Uttar Pradesh. Mulayam Singh Yadav is commonly referred to as Netaji in the political circles of Uttar Pradesh.

The Samajwadi Party won a complete mandate in the 2012 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections. For the first time in Uttar Pradesh, the SP was able to establish the administration on its alone.

Akhilesh Yadav, the state president of the Samajwadi Party and the son of Netaji, vociferously criticized the BSP administration for corruption while putting growth on the state’s plan. Akhilesh Yadav’s development aspirations captivated the people, and the whole state embraced him. After the election, when the issue of leadership emerged, Netaji appointed Akhilesh Yadav as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh after consulting with top coworkers.

Moreover, Mulayam Singh made his foray into the political mainstream when the United Front became the government in 1996 after ousting the Congress party. He was appointed Defense Minister in this HD Deve Gowda-led administration. However, it did not hold office for very long after installing two prime ministers in India in three years. His opposition to the “Bharatiya Janata Party” suggested that he would be more friendly with Congress. Still, in 1999 Congress could not form the government because they were not given assurances of their support, and the relationship between the two parties deteriorated. 

The demise of Mulayam Singh Yadav

He passed away on October 10 at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram due to a protracted ailment after being on life support for a few days.
