The number of COVID-19 cases in India has touched 35,043 (as per the health ministry’s report as on May 1, 2020). Despite the rise of novel coronavirus patients across the country, the recovery rate has also increased. The Centre on Thursday claimed India’s recovery rate of COVID-19 mounted from 13.06 per cent a fortnight ago to 25.19 per cent.

The doubling rate of COVID-19
The health ministry has listed the names of several states which are showing good progress than the national average in terms of doubling the rate of COVID-19 cases. According to the list, the doubling rate of novel coronavirus cases in states like Delhi, UP, J&K, Odhisha, Rajasthan, and Punjab is between 11-20 days.
Some states perform better in containing COVID-19
While states like Karnataka, Kerala, and a few others have shown improvement in taming the deadly COVID-19, the doubling rate in such states is 20-40 days. Three states – Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh are on the top in terms of containing the novel coronavirus, in such states, the doubling rate is over 40 days, which is much-improved performance.
Govt assures to win war soon
The Union Health Ministry has assured that currently, India is performing better compared to other nations in the containment of novel coronavirus. It is expected that the country will be able to win the war against this deadly virus in the coming few weeks.
Some states set to bring migrant workers
A sigh of relief has come for thousands of migrant workers and students who are stranded in various cities amid the COVID-19 lockdown. Several states have shown humanity and are ready to bring stranded workers from other states. In the meantime, many states have already brought back students and migrant workers from other cities. In this regard, all the states will have to follow the Union Home Ministry guidelines.
MP brings 20,000 labourers
The Madhya Pradesh government has claimed that it has brought back more than 20,000 migrant labourers from other states. The UP chief minister has urged the state officials to prepare quarantine centres and shelters and arrange community kitchens as the UP government is ready to bring back migrant workers stranded in other parts of the country. The chief minister of Kerala and Punjab have urged the prime minister to arrange special trains for the movement of migrant workers.
Plasma therapy provides positive results
In the absence of high-quality treatments or vaccines to fight against COVID-19, the death rate has increased globally. Plasma therapy has been considered as the novel idea to overcome this deadly pandemic. In plasma therapy, blood is taken from the recovered patients of novel coronavirus, and the plasma from the blood is extracted. The plasma is then given to COVID-19 infected patient’s body.
Seeing the success of this therapy in UP, Delhi, Maharashtra, the therapy is gradually getting popularity across the country, and many states have decided to use this therapy in COVID-19 treatment.

Yogi urges to speed the use of plasma therapy
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had asked the state’s medical authorities to aggressively push plasma therapy for the treatment of novel coronavirus patients after seeing its effectiveness. He also urged to increase the pool testing in the state. The first case of implementing plasma therapy in Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital has been successful. The plasma therapy trials have received a good response in Delhi as well.
UP CM interacts with US investors
Amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath has been planning to make changes in the industrial policy of the state. This is being done to enable US-based companies to shift their investment in Uttar Pradesh instead of China. The state government recently had a meeting with many companies via video-conferencing. As per a media report, some of the well-known companies like FedEx, UPS, Cisco, Adobe, Lockheed Martin, Honeywell, and Boston Scientific participated in the meeting.
A decrease in pollution level
People are observing the lockdown period. Most of the vehicles are off the road, and industries or factories are closed. All the activities are closed. In this situation, the pollution level of air, water, and sound has decreased. It is undeniable that COVID-19 outbreak has helped a lot in the control of pollution without spending anything.
