What better way than starting the year by watching a typical Bollywood potboiler that bedazzles the theatre with thorough entertainment? Yes, you guessed it right! Amit Sharma’s directorial debut, Tevar, makes an exciting entry on the screens today. A remake of the Telugu hit Okkkadu, Tevar is a wholesome entertainer backed by thunderbolt action and brisk romance. Despite being a shopworn no-brainer, the film has all the ingredients of an archetypal masala-hit.

Plot: A robust local lad of Agra, Pintoo, by accident runs into Radhika, a girl being chased by a politician goon Gajendra Singh. Trying to save the pretty college girl from the atrocities of the goon, Pintoo elopes with Radhika! What begins as an act of help, soon turns into a heroic love story as the two escapees fall for each other.

Performances: The new-age angry young man, Arjun Kapoor gives yet another galvanizing show of his tevar! He is absolutely bombastic in action sequences, making every single scene worth watching. His rugged persona looks stunningly charming on the screen.

Sonakshi Sinha blatantly repeats herself yet again! Someone please stop this witless beauty from injuring our brains!

Raj Babbar is absolutely delightful to watch this one. This is where the seniority reflects, when even in a few minutes on the screen you manage to make your presence worthwhile.

But the show stealer of the film is this immensely talented Bollywood baddy, Manoj Bajpayee. He is truly one of the most intriguing villains of this industry. Less can be spoken about the profound abilities an actor of his stature!

Music: Tevar’s music has been composed by the much successful duo, Sajid-Wajid. Undoubtedly, the two of them have done a splendid job once again! Tevar has some extremely melodious tunes that leave a lasting impression on the listener. The best ones include Superman and Joganiya.

What’s Good: A power-packed performance by Arjun Kapoor and Manoj Bajpayee clubbed with an interesting music score makes it a complete entertainer. The action sequences require a special mention. Amit Sharma is definitely one director to watch out for!

What’s Bad: The over-stretched length of the film really makes the audience uneasy. The plot seems to be an old wine served with style. The second half is slouchy and ends with a formulaic climax.

Amit Sharma’s Tevar gives a good kick-start to the year 2015! The film might seem like another brainless southern remake but by no means does it lack on the entertainment quotient. A sturdy hero with a notorious villain, both exhibiting perfect style and persona – what more does a Bollywood lover want! Both Arjun Kapoor and Manoj Bajpayee deliver a smashing performance to look up to. Tevar is not anything exceptional but is definitely worth watching this weekend!

Verdict: Start off the year by watching this typical masala entertainer that promises to give you a good time!
