Chup: Revenge of the Artist is a new 2022 crime-thriller film written and directed by R. Balki. It was released on September 23. It is produced by Jayantilal Gada, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, and Gauri Shinde under Hope.

 Cast

Sunny Deol played an inspector general, and Dalquer Salmaan played the male protagonist. Salman is playing Danny in the film and has played the role of a florist. Shreya Dhanwanthary plays the female protagonist. She is an entertainment reporter for a channel.

On the other hand, Pooja Bhatt, who played Dr Zenobia Shroff, a criminal psychologist, and Saranya Ponvannan, is Nila’s mother. They play supporting roles in the film. Actor Amitabh Bachchan has a cameo in the film as Amit. He was an actor in the third Umpire movie.

 Plot

The film is all about the relationship between an artist and the critics. A mysterious serial killer murders all the film critics who review films and try to criticise them. The story is from Mumbai. The Inspector General of Mumbai, Arvind Mathur, investigates the case of the serial killer. The case of murder involves the protagonist, Danny, the florist, Nila Menon, an entertainment reporter, and Dr Zenobia Shroff, a criminal psychologist, married.

The mysterious murders have one thing in common all the deceased were film critics and had a star on their faces. The film is also a tribute to Guru Dutt. The film has a short portion of Guru Dutt, who left directing films after his movie “Kagaz ke phool” when many critics criticised his film. The serial killer is not happy with the film critics’ jobs. He only selects film critics for the murder.

 Analysis

The movie shows that a killer who owns a bicycle kidnaps and transports people. The director must not have thrown light on the basic facts. The name Dalquer Salmaan was enough to attract the audience. The movie cannot be watched by soft-hearted people and children.

It contains a lot of violence. It is estimated that the film’s violence makes it a hit. However, it simply makes the film obvious. The Inspector General can act better with expressions. The flaw was the unnecessary songs, it displaces the audience from the main plot.

The forced love story of Danny and Nila does not make any sense. It only seems like it is stretching the plot. The movie’s first half attracts the audience, but the second half is slow and lacks all the turning points. The audience can easily guess what might happen at certain points.

The acting of Shreya Dhanwanthary was fine as a journalist. She played an entertainment reporter in the film, and she previously played a journalist in the 1992 scam. So she was an excellent choice for the role of a journo.

The movie’s presentation was fresh, but with time, the movie got pale and guessable. The movie touched on the story of Guru Dutt and tried to create and share a unique texture with the audience. The crime-thriller movie Chup was one of its kind. It tried to be unique, and it was successful in that. The unique and exciting plot of the movie can attract the audience. The movie is watchable, but those who avoid violence should wait for another movie.

 Songs

There are three songs in the movie sung by Amit Trivedi, Rupali Moghe, Shaswant Singh, and Sneha Shankar. The songs got more famous. The lyrics of “Yeh duniya agar mil Bhi Jaye” were taken from Sahir Ludhianvi. S.D provided the music. Burman, Amit Trivedi, and Sneha Khanwalkar make it more creative and soothing.
