Jugjugg Jeeyo Movie Review: A film about family and relationships full of drama, dance and humor

What happens when you are about to give your family a piece of shocking news, but you get one in return? That is what Jug Jugg Jeeyo is about. It talks about the ups and downs of the relationship between a husband and wife.

Relationships of all sorts are very fragile. One must nurture them with love, care, understanding, and respect. Without any of it, the relationships become a burden, leading to unwanted fights and arguments.

While weddings are celebrated in our country and are an event of immense joy, the discussion about divorce makes a big deal among families. It also leads to the famous thinking of ‘Log Kya Kahenge’ (what will people say).

This multi-starrer comedy-drama film talks about divorce but not in a conventional way. Rather than dealing with it as a taboo, it examines the reasons behind reaching such a point in a relationship. But is it worth watching?

Story

Jug Jugg Jeeyo is the story of Kuldeep ‘Kukoo’ Saini (Varun Dhawan) and Naina Sharma (Kiara Advani). The story begins with Kukoo and Naina being in love with each other since their school days and eventually getting married to each other in the presence of their families. At the same time, Kukoo’s family includes his father, Bheem Saini (Anil Kapoor), his mother, Geeta Saini (Neetu Singh), and his sister Ginny Saini (Prajakta Koli). Naina’s family has his brother Gurpreet Sharma (Maniesh Paul).

After being married for five years, Kukkoo and Naina live in Toronto, Canada, and are on the verge of getting divorced. But they decide not to break the family’s news until Ginny’s marriage. When they returned to India, the preparation of a big-fat Punjabi-style wedding was seen.

But the twist in the tale comes when Kukoo gets to know about his father’s extramarital affair and that he is planning to divorce his mother. What happens next and how the story unfolds make Jug Jugg Jeeyo a good watch.

Review

The story of this film progresses at the right pace. All the actors in the film have done their job brilliantly. While Anil Kapoor and Neetu Singh have once again shown why they are popular now, Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani have established a proper amount of emotions according to their characters. Maniesh Paul has spread smiles throughout the films with his one-liners and perfect comic timing. Prajakta Koli has also delivered a good performance as a debutant.

The main highlight of this film is its song. All the songs have become hits, be it ‘The Punjaaban Song’, ‘Rangsaari’ or ‘Jab Saavan’. Moreover, the film is full of entertainment as it has intense drama, comedy, laughter, and many emotions. It has shown the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship in a new light. The women in this film are strong, independent, and value family values.

Do watch Jug Jugg Jeeyo if you are looking for a decent film filled with varied emotions.
